Is this WW2 ,it used to stand next to Stonehenge (1964 ) a stop off point on the way to Salisbury Plain hence the posed picture ,not sure if it was for tourist or a target, in those days you could wander about and climb up on the Stones of the Hendge.
DPM Combat Jackets/Smocks with Lightweight Trousers and high leg boots I think we are looking at the 1970's at the earliest (should have looked at Owens posting above first) but in a moment all will be revealed! Will it be an Ah! or an Oooh! Are those RA cap badges, the webbing looks a bit odd.
I think I will give myself an Mmmmmmmmm and call for an umpires decision on When that photo was taken. As a museum piece it could have been on any Mid summer's eve! They appear to be wearing Para smocks, I had one once from my neighbour who was a Sgt in the Paras. I'm a it slow Owen got in while I was typing. They issued Cadets with those water bottles for donkeys years but you are probably right. Are they wearing high legs, gaiters or puttees?
Sorry I did not make it clear. I took the photo's.1964 Cap Badge Parachute Regiment Denison smocks. Mainly puttees Stop over whilst travelling to Salisbury plain by 3 tonner rather than the usual Hastings/Beverly. I was thinking of putting it up on the " Have you fired a WW2 weapon" but realised I did not know its age.
Thanks for the ID Owen. Not sure if it was placed there for Tourist. Or may be a demo piece for Lark Hill just to the north.
