Sgt. Morris was a photographer attached to General Montgomery's entourage. He followed him everywhere and recorded his activities regularly in N.W. Europe during the war. He also captured other events if in the neighbourhood at the time. Is there anything more known of him? There seems to have been several Morris's associated with the AFPU.

    Very good Ramiles,

I recognize Morris now in the background of a few Quarry Awards scenes.

The following is not AFPU related but it might be of interest as I believe it shows Robert Capa photographing American Airborne men arriving to board their aircraft for Operation Varsity.

Found here without acknowledgement of Capa being in photo:

    M. Besiat shows his treasures to Dvr. D.V. Jowett of Ironville, Derbyshire, a driver with the A.F.P.U. (Sgt. Silverside 3rd May 1943)

On the Plains of Goubellat is a farm kept by a Frenchmen, M. Rene Beziat, who although living between the fire of the Allied and Italo-German Forces, proved that he was wholeheartedly for the cause of the Allies. On Christmas Day a British patrol led by an officer called at his farmhouse and he welcomed them all with a Christmas dinner and afterwards volunteered to lead them on the rest of the patrol, his knowledge of the locality proving of great value and contributing to the success of the patrol. On a later date M. Bezist went to a neighbouring farmhouse which he knew harboured a German patrol of three men, these he captured after wounding two of them and safely delivered them into our lines. After this episode he decided to move behind our lines, but before doing so he buried his savings. For a long time the enemy were in possession of his farm and then they were forced to retire they took everything of value with them. When the farmer returned to his home his first thought was for his savings and clearing a corner of wreckage he retrieved the box which contained his savings and the jewellery of his wife and daughter.
