Well, it's a great gesture and I am sure many people will take advantage of the offer, but I suspect most forum members will be taking part in other events as will I.

I will be at the Chindit Memorial on the Victorian Embankment in London. However, I would recommend Duxford to anyone who can make it, every event I've attended there has been excellent.

Normal admission price for 2014 is £17.50. In 2015 they will charge for children aged 5 to 15 at £8.75, when a family ticket ( 1 adult 2 children ) will be £30.65 and 2 adults 2 children £46.00.

Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at this time of year.

The cafe is expensive, as is the catering at the museum in Lambeth, and very bland.

The shop offers a range of items including a fair selection of books.

An expensive day out, but worth the effort. You can't do it all in a day.

Good that there is a free day since it is a long way to travel but perhaps a different date would have been better.

And from my own biased perspective; I'd say start at the land warfare hall.
Easy to miss it in a full day & it's rather good, particularly presuming there will likely be a service to attend there at 1100.

Ah, 1230 - RBL Service at the Conservation hall:

Unfortunately as much as I would like to attend, I have prior RBL commitments that day, which include laying a wreath at 10.30 at one war memorial, then scampering down to another service about a mile away for 10.45, then a Parade and Service later in the day at 3pm!

So no wandering around a Museum for me! :(

    Regards to all
    Andy
