    This article by Jim Harris reminds me that in the midst of a longest day - darkest hour - worst moment in life - there is great humour and I am convinced it is what saves so many lives in this sort of situation -

    like my friend Bob Cross who served with Brigadier McLeans Mission to Tito and lost a leg in the process "couldn't find it anywhere" he said when I met up with him a couple of years later in Rome- irrepressable - indomintable - or just plain stupid - we find a joke ! Long may we so do !

    I'm sure that if you do not find a way to reconcile such traumatic events and put them in a healthy perspective, they can eat you up over time.
