My father was in the 1st Armoured Battalion Coldstream Guards and served between June 1944 and May 1945. (He also stayed in Germany and help run a displaced person camp) Today I reached the state retirement age (65) and decided to opened the biscuit tin which has some records of the Battalion (Field Notes). I have scanned them and will post on this site which I hope some of you will find useful.

    Best Wishes

    A Grateful Son

Thank you,I have been meaning to do this for a long time. As it was my birthday and as the 1st Armoured landed in Normandy on June 30th and 1st & 2nd July 1944 (piecemeal), I thought it was appropriate timing. I was hoping to follow their route to Bremen, on a motorbike, maybe next year now!

    Hello Stefan, thanks

A few years ago I drove and stayed in Bremen not realising the personal significance of the place. Next time, lots of research beforehand. I would like to find out where my father went after the war finished.

    Best wishes
