I am an Essex boy born and bred but a few months ago I was Best Man at my mate's wedding. He is Essex born too but married a Scottish lass and the ceremony was at the GlenCoe Ski Centre. At the wedding I wore a kilt for the first time. Rather a strange experience but I thouroughly enjoyed the event. I and two other Essex ushers were made to feel like honoury Scotsmen for the day. I will always have fond memories of that wedding in Scotland and our welcome there. That's me on the right, the Groom on the left.
Watched virtual wedding of one of my god daughters in Scotland today. Groom, best man and the groom's dad were wearing kilts. Kind of neat.
Here is the groom in his kilt. Does the pattern of the tartan and the sporran mean anything to any kilt experts? Always looking for historic tidbits. Thanks
I believe the colour and pattern tells which clan you are from, but our Scottish (and dont forget there is also Irish Tartan and kilts) may help more but in the meantime knock yourself out clan tartans - Google Search TD more bedtime reading - Sporran - Wikipedia. also a way of using roadkill - https://morrison-sporrans.co.uk/pro...ing_wp_cron=1607251021.3845400810241699218750
