    Gents,

    8th May 1941

GRINDALL, Kenneth, Leading Seaman, P/JX 147733, killed [HULL WESTERN CEMETERY]

His ship was HMS Westminster. He is noted as killed by bombing, the destroyer does not appear to have been damaged, so I wonder if he was killed ashore. Hull suffered air raids on nights 7th/8th and 8th/9th May. Any ideas?

    Regards,

    Steve

It says Hull rather that 'at sea' so would suggest he was killed ashore

Seems his parents lived in Hull

Son of Douglas and Lily Grindall, of Hull.

Looking through - All UK, World War II Civilian Deaths, 1939-1945 I cannot find any Grindall deaths for that date, so it might be construed that he wasnt with his parents at the time of his death

    Thanks Gents,

Indeed looks like he was a victim of the German air raid on Hull.
