Hi Bootneck To save yourself time & trouble of going down blind alleys it is always recommended to obtain a persons service records, these can ONLY be found in MOD hands but it is well worth the small cost - the link is Requests for personal data and service records: a detailed guide these records will tell you the official record where they went and what units they were with, following this its possible to find more detailed information from the relevant war diaries or other reliable sources. TD many thanks i have applied for the record and his medals and also visiting his grave in Pune India, still waiting. I had hoped to find a memorial in the UK with his name but the one in London is for all Chindits. He is on the special forces roll of honour which was a nice surprise and on St Helens ROH. I am after a photo or to see if he died in the battle for pogoda hill near the railway which was on 18/3/44
