Manged to get to Colindale and check on the newspapers. The article about the Empire Folk is from the Daily Mail. I have tracked down the other reports, they are not very good copies of microfilm, but I can post them if of interest? One intrigues me: 'Ammo' ship takes her own dockers, which describes a voyage to the beachhead with 65 dockers on board 'average age 35, some over 50.' This sounds as if they were civilians? Roy
Roy, I couldn't say. This photo is part of the Time Life Frank Scherschel Collection available on Google Arts & Culture: Frank Scherschel - Google Arts & Culture Michel
Michel Have you seen this thread? LCT(e) 413. What did it do and where...and trying to reunite memorabilia with its former owner. My friend is trying to locate the former owner of the memorabilia so it can be returned to the family. Long shot obviously but never say never on this Forum.
There is a transcript of the log of Empire Folk and mention of LCT413 therein here www.thamestugs.co.uk
Great link old tuggy! The extracts from the ships' logs are particularly interesting. Some of the tows photos (in the Tows Gallery" pages) are really impressive too!
