Hi I'm new to the site but I hope someone may be able to advance/correct my knowledge regarding LCT469 as it is a focus of family research. Based on P&Vs, pass me down stories and a bit of self-research, I believe my relative - Henry Northcott (JK359440) RNVR was temporary sub-lieutenant ('jimmy the one') on the mark 3 Landing Craft, Tank 469 during Operation Neptune (15th LCT Flotilla of 'D' LCT Squadron; Jig sector, Gold area) and then in the smaller 4th Flotilla of 'N' LCT Squadron at Operation Infatuate (White Beach, Westkapelle, Walcheren Island). Regarding D-day, I note the 12 craft flotilla had eight LCTs carrying DD Sherman Tanks near the start of landings (...but I do not believe LCT469 was one of these, although I'm not certain on this matter). The alternative appears to be the two craft that carried infantry and equipment for landings about H-hour +35 mins OR one of the two 'spare' (what did these do?) Regarding Operation Infatuate, I note that there were only 5 (or 6 mark?) 3 LCTs involved in the squadron with 2 landing personnel and equipment OR 3 landing stores. Anyhow, anything on LCT469 (LTIN, Embarkation, pictures, crew etc) or other craft of the 15th Flotilla (D-day) or the 4th Flotilla (Walcheren) would be much appreciated. Regards Simon

Just came across this Operation Infatuate: The Landings at Walcheren with Stephen Fisher - YouTube so thank you to OTD Canadian Military History and the excellent Stephen Fisher. Approximately 1 hour 15 mins in, it contained a useful primary source relating to LCT469 (and some chat) which ties in perfectly with the family history stories I have - just hadn't realised in was D+2 for landing. Much appreciated
Utmost appreciation to Neeltje Flipse-Roelse (in memoriam), the Museum Polderhuis Westkapelle and author, Jakho Westerbeke for this informative ebook Tank Wrecks at Westkapelle 1.1.pdf Pages 127 to 129 relate to LCT469 and p128 includes the first full picture of LCT469 I have come across. Many thanks
