Winter's first blast arrived early this year. Many of the trees still have their leaves. Often we can golf past mid-November here in southern Ontario. 10-15 cm of snow expected and down to -16C tonight. It was a long 90 minutes outside today at the Remembrance Day ceremonies. Then again, a taste of physical discomfort on Remembrance Day is somehow appropriate.
During this month we have had dry cold periods and rainy warm periods, so it has been bad for snow, last night we got a few cm snow. Probably stays only to Wednesday, because forecasts promise a new warmer rainy period from Wednesday to Sunday. Now it is -5 deg C. Juha
I have snow, but I am more than 600 feet above sea level. The sun is out now and it looks great. Mike
I am at a similar altitude but glad to say no snow. Have reached the age when no matter how good it looks it's a poxy nuisance
-20C today Situation normal for mid January in Canada. As a side note, there have been no climate change demonstrations in the past few weeks.
Look on the bright side: tea will taste better tomorrow and Monday in my region of the UK due to pressure forecast to rise to 1050 mb. The record stands at about 1053.5 mb. Water will boil at above 100 deg centigrade, thus assisting the tea-making process, according to the nice chap who did the weather forecast on Anglia News on Friday evening. For UK Pressure chart see here: Surface Pressure Charts - Met Office
75F, overcast and slightly humid here. Other than that it was great weather for motorbiking. Started out with steak and eggs early this morning, no need for lunch, now I’m heating up a pot of gumbo for dinner. Had a great choir practice with friends, draft beer and stogies. Life is good being semi-retired.
Hello Canuck he it is +2 and no snow, that is quite rarer. I'm suffering quite a longing for snow. It seems that nearest area with snow is some 275 km north. On the other hand in Kainuu and Lapland there are extraordinary amount of snow for mid-Jan, 72 - 82 cm. Juha
Enjoy it while you can. In less than ten years nothing will grow there but palm trees and pineapples. Greta told me.
Yup, we sure do get extreme weather down here. South Australia could do with some of that rain that is bucketing down in the eastern states - our beloved Kangaroo Island getting a massive amount is #1 on my wish list.
We got 10 inches of snow yesterday but nothing like Newfoundland. Even Newfoundlanders Are Amazed By The Amount Of Snow That Surrounds Them I got my workout yesterday by spending over 2 hours clearing snow off the walk and driveway. Meanwhile, my 30something neighbour has a contractor arrive and clear his driveway with a snowplow. Immediately afterwards, he emerges from the house with his fitness club bag and heads out to the gym!
Not only ex colonials have snow. I have snow. The heaviest this year. Actually the only snow this year so far. Lasted ten minutes. The Waitrose delivery van got through all right though. Mike
