My father, deceased over 15 years, was in North Africa and Palestine for most of WW2 - I received his war records recently and attempting to trawl through the usual complex abbreviations and spidery writing via the photocopies they sent me. He was in the RE - Dockyard section - as mainly a checker - and was wounded in action in North Africa in June 1942 - he was in a military hospital for 2 weeks until 3rd August - I am trying to locate the hospital...as if it is in Cairo I may know someone whose mother was a nurse there and had taken many photographs. The imnfo I have is the following.. Casualty card 19/7/42 C7 RE ME Cismis (?) Hospital 3/8/42 C7 RE ME discharged Reported by Regiment 1017 Drs op coy Any help would be much appreciated Thanks
Hello, Maybe this will help. British General Hospitals - Scarlet Finders red ling (Hope the link works)
I had a scan through the Hospital list, thanks, and I think the hopsital was at Alexandria No 64 - as I recall my father being at El Alemain, the first battle, and in the middle of that period he was wounded in action and in the Alexandria hospital for 2 weeks.. Thanks
