Hi Andy, Well that seems to back up our first theory quite well. It is interesting that such an entry was placed on the certificate, as most of the examples that I have seen for POW's, simply states: died whilst in Japanese hands.
Sydney's Service records have arrived, going to spend a while going through them over the weekend. Not a lot of information but more than I had.
