Looking for info about LCT 719 on DDay

Hello all

Total war novice here. Today I received my Grandfather's service records and discovered that he was Coxswain on LCT 719 on D-Day. From what I can see this site has some very clever posters and experts who might be able to tell me more about what my Grandfather was doing on D Day. There seemed to be hints in other posts that LCT 719 was involved in the landings on Gold beach. I would love to be able to confirm this and if possible find out more.

They start with Post 90 and with replies end with Post 96.

 

From Vectic's posty #61 in another thread, it is clear that LCT 719 was one of the six craft carrying 90 Fd Regt guns on D Day.

As coxswain, your grandfather would have had a particularly important but tough job on D Day because the self-propelled guns his craft was carrying had to shoot while afloat (Run In Shoot), and the accuracy of their fire would depends in a large part on the craft keeping the correct course and speed (see this other thread: Run-In Shoot by RA in Overlord Assault).
