Can anybody give me any information as to what branch of service my great uncle served in?

The photo below shows him in uniform with my great aunt but his shoulder patch is difficult to see. He was never one for talking much about his time in the war but he once did say that he landed in Normandy around D-Day+2.

I have a few more photos of him which I will post soon.

Think you've got it but the RAOC seemed to disappear into REME - about 1942 - this looks like early '45 with Collar and Tie but

    NO stars or medals…

    Cheers

RAOC were still around in 45, it was just the engineering branch (RAOC(E)) that formed the new REME corps.

    Thank you for the replies.

I would be inclined to opt for R.A.O.C as he certainly didn't have any medical experience. I will speak to my relatives and ask if there is any more paperwork or Information about him.

The lanyard worn on the left shoulder would suggest RAOC.

Have you considered applying for a copy of his service records?

Wrong , not RASC as that is light letters on a dark background. That's why I didnt mention it.
    see examples here.
