    Hi,

    For your information “townland” is
    used in Ireland - north & south of the 1921 “border” - to denote a small division/district of land usually within a rural civil parish.

  3. FYI Army Roll of Honour 1939-45 (TNA ref WO 304) has only one Gilmartin fatality for British Army WW2,
     
  4. Charles, King's Liverpool Rgt 4/4/1943 Burma so probably 13th Bn on 1st Chindit operation.
    Born Eire, Resided Bootle (personnel from Eire usually appear with a British place of residence, rarely Eire, possibly to due to Neutral status) Army Number 3779348 from the KLR block.
