Thought I'd start a thread about the Main Battle Tanks of the Post-war/Modern Period. If anyone else wants to put in some links feel free. Here is a link to one of my favourite tanks, the MBT of the British Army of the 60's and 70's, The chieftain!! Chieftain Tank

Nice 'in action' shots Owen. :D

I have a bit of a weakness for the Conqueror. Intended to engage JS3's at extreme ranges, it became something of a white elephant & logistical nightmare by the time of it's completion, but a 'handsome' monster nonetheless.

The wide-skirted hang of the thing... Conqueror on what looks like Hohne ranges (?).

Not a real Panzer as such but I love this pic.

The IS 2 and 3 heavy Soviet tanks are interesting as they span the late WW2 period and the early Cold War. Nice little article here comparing the IS 2 with German WW2 armour but please don't use it for yet another 'which tank is best' debate ;)

Absolutely no "which tank is best" posts will be allowed in this thread. But posting "this tank is good" is definitely allowed!!!! :D

Indeed, such comparisons would be ridiculous - the IS 2 would cream the lot of them!

    :p

    The 'Centurion Firefly' ? :D

Well, sort of, even though the site says that with so many internal changes, Israeli help included, the design is practically a new tank.
