Does anyone know if the above officer is linked with Hobart's Funnies?

I've just typed up and posted his MBE citation and it hints (in my mind) towards this pre D-Day project. Any of you 'tankies' come across him in your travels?

    Here's the citation:

Preparatory to the invasion of the Continent and subsequent to the commencement of the Operation the work done by this officer has been outstanding. The construction of technical vehicles and the high standard of efficiency in the technical aspect of the unit has been largely due to his efforts and he has discharged his duties as 2ic with a keen, conscientious and untiring energy.

Doesn't immediately ring a bell mate. But I'll have a shufti.
'Technical vehicles', to my mind, hints of signals/workshop vans etc. rather than 'Special vehicles', as the funnies might be more usually termed.
Someone with the 79th History might well be able to look him up.

I can't find him in any of my 79th Armoured books.

Cheers for looking chaps. I think the biggest clue in the citation is that he was a 2ic of whatever the unit was modding the vehicles. As you say Adam it maybe Radio Relay/Cable Laying/Workshop Vehicles.
