    I live in Normandy, France between Omaha Beach and Saint-Lo. In a cupboard we have found a message written by Peter Pickering viz;

    TROIS MARINS DE LA NAVIRE ANG........
    ETAIENT ICI 30TH AOUT 1944
    VIVE LA LIBERTE
    VIVE LA FRANCE
    VIVE L'ANGLETERRE
    ET
    VIVE TOUTES LES DEMOISELLES FRANCAISE
    (PETER PICKERING RNVR
    MANCHESTER
    LANCS
    ENGLAND)

    and below -

    P.F.C. MIKE J PATRICK
    ASHTA,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, pencil broke !!

    I have tried to locate Peter or his relatives with no success so far. Perhaps this note will jog someones memory.

    A check on the CWGC site apppears to be negative and so it Looks like Peter Pickering survived the war.

    Regards
