MILN, David A, Ty/Surgeon Lieutenant, RNVR DOW [KRANJI WAR CEMETERY]

CWGC says he was with HMS Sultan, but naval-history says killed in bombing of minelayer HMS Kung Wo. Any ideas if the minelayer was attacked or the cause of Surg/Lt Miln's death?

HMS Kung Wo was a Yangtse river steamer that had been requisitioned by the RN. HMS Sultan was the Singapore Naval Base where the ship's personnel records would be held. Naval-history says 'died of wounds' not 'killed' so this bombing of the Kung Wo would have happened prior to 20 Jan. CWGC says that Surg Lt Miln's remains were concentrated to Krangi War Cemetery after the war from Bidadari Christian Cemetery. The Kung Wo was sunk later in Feb 42.

Bombed by Japanese aircraft 6 nautical miles North-West of Pompong Island (near Lingga) and scuttled on 14 February 1942.

Hugh - you're getting months mixed up. This happened after Miln was wounded.

I'll go get my coat and lie down.:)

Suggest a look in ADM 358/1186 - May give an indication of previous wounds

    Regards
    Hugh

Thanks yes, I've been slowly working my way through the ADM358 casualty documents.
