    What a disgrace.

The Brigade in Aldershot looses its training areas in Longmoor, around Bordon and on Hankley Common. The MOD say's they can train on Salisbury Plain yet the increase in troops there means SPTA is already full to capacity.

The barracks in Hounslow, the only complete Victorian barracks left. Is due to close despite having a fortune recently spent on upgrading the accommodation, this means the men currently based there have to move to Aldershot which is FULL. Imagine doing public duties in London for hours on top of an hour or more each way to and from Aldershot.

The barracks in Windsor are closing the men moving into no existent barrack spaces in London or on the far side of the city in Woolwich. All over the place training areas are being cut, men expected to move from barracks in one place to other barracks which are already sold, pending sale or are intended for sale!

Not politics, no one party ever seems to make more sense of defence than another but it is sheer bloody insanity. No plans are made with reference to any other leaving a homeless army with no place to train.

They probably couldn't afford the season ticket.

    James.

I would not get too miffed about this.

This is just version 456a and when sanity and reality meet HM Treasury the plans normally change very quickly into something much more sensible.

    Regards

Some locations have already been sold. Longmoor is now closed or in the process of closing.

Wales too faces the closure of Army bases: Closure of two Welsh bases criticised by MPs To be fair since a 2016 review of the MoD estate the military need less space. Space that suits families too as that has an impact on retention. There are a set of 2016 articles via the links.
