51highland, I really enjoyed reading the camerons regimental magazine, are there any more issues available? The pictures you posted were of officers and Sgt's my grandfather was a private, do you think the museum at fort george would hold new recruit pictures over the years?

Do you think im getting confused if I said 2nd battalion Q.O cameron highlanders were part of the 4th indian division and were within that part of the 11th infantry division?
As I earlier posted about the picture of the kiel cemetry, i do beleive the 11th infantry were part of the attack on Schleswig-Holstein? although I can not find the website that I read this on. I am probably just tripping myself up a bit.

After the end of the Gothic Line battles -and before the winter set in-the 4th Indian went over to Greece with the 4th British Division to sort out the Communist who were trying to take over in Greece- so unless th 2nd Cams left the 11th Indian Bde - they would not be involved in any battles in the NWE campaign

Most likely this was 2nd CAMERONIANS who were in 5th Division who moved to the NWE from Italy....this mix up happened a lot in Italy
    Cheers

As Tom said, 2nd Camerons went to Greece in November 1944 where they finished their war. Your man was Probably 2nd Cameronians who were part of 15th Scottish Division.

Im trying to get hold of a very good scanner as the picture i have is very soft, but the uniform is just about identicle to this http://jimmy-speirs.co.uk/Uniform_2.JPG

Same cap and badge is the same size, jacket is identicle with the curved front, button sizes and positioning etc

will get my pic up before the weekend hopefully

Since the Cameronians were known as the Scottish Rifles - they would be a light regiment- fast marchers and would have a bugle somewhere in their badge as well as a Star central and surrounded by a laurel wreath- Jimmy Spiers does not have this badge - ergo he is in the CAMERON HIGHLANDERS

    Cheers

Just to try and cut out any more confusion-
The 2nd Camerons were in 11th bde of 4th Indian Div which served in the Desert -Ethiopia -Syria - Desert -Tunisia - Italy - Greece...

The 2nd Cameronians were 13th bde in 5th Div.(Globetrotters) which served in Madagascar - Sicily - Italy - NWE...

The 9th Cameronians were in 46th bde of 15th Scottish Division and served in NWE -only !

    Cheers

More than six years later I've just found these pages--many thanks. At the risk of being a pest, is there any chance that you might be able to post pages 156 and 157?
