This programme was a favourite of many people from 1991 to 1993, starring David Jason and Pam Ferris, and launching the career of Catherine Zeta Jones. I have just read that Moray Watson, the actor who played the retired Brigadier, died last Tuesday aged 88. Whilst reading his obit (Independent), I noted that his father was killed on active service during WWII. Moray Watson's obit: Moray Watson, the character actor who spent 60 years in the business Gerard Watson's CWGC entry: WATSON, Gerard Arthur Rank: Captain Service No: 64042 Date of Death: 21/05/1940 Age: 39 Regiment/Service: Royal Sussex Regiment, 4th Bn.
