The matchbox beach-head assault set looked too much like Poplar! I've never seen it, maybe they dared not stock it back then. Yes, had every one of those Britains figures - in fact this is when my interest in the Afrika Korps deepened a bit. A Grandad who says "Lemme see those........ Best soldiers in the WORLD they were, son, the Afrika Korps, best soldiers I ever fought." I guess his never-ending respect for them spurred my interest. Same reason as why I have dreams (only dreams, mind) of owning a Kettengrad!! And the AK BMW Combination was one which I bought twice as I loved it so much. M2 Machines is doing some great work. I never thought I'd say this but the quality is equal or better than the 1960s Lesney Matchboxs. Problem is they haven't done any WWII stuff or construction equipment yet, although they've done some trucks. Lesney Matchbox were 35 cents in the states in 1965 which is $2.87 in 2020 dollars and I just paid $6.50 for this Oldsmobile at Walmart It is a 1948 Rocket. It was GMs first new postwar model and the first mass produced OHV V8 car engine. Home
