    Hi,

I came across the attached November 1943 document in a Scots Guards service file on Findmypast.

It suggests that a search of armed forces employment records for “tubular scaffolders” had been made with a view to selected personnel being temporarily discharged from service to “W Reserve” for work of national importance likely to last 4 months.

It strikes me that this “work of national importance” might be to work on the construction of the Mulberry Harbours used during the Normandy landings.

    Steve
