I would love to work at the Winchester Museum, but I'm not qualified for the top job and the other is too low paid to make the commute practical. Shame.

    'Evening chaps,

Well, it has been a while since I visited this parish but life can take you off on strange journeys now and again. Here's a few for your delight:

When I started this thread way back in ?2007 it wasn't easy to access details of jobs in the heritage sector but that has changed a lot in recent years, especially at the archaeological end of the spectrum. However the interweb has developed nicely in the years since and I can recommend BAJR as a source of info on such things: British Archaeological Jobs Resource - BAJR
I'll try and post anything I see of interest in the future.

Most public sector type jobs are poorly paid and the last areas to move with the times in terms of competitive salaries. I'm presently commanding a sinking ship at my place of work due to staff leaving for jobs paying only a few thousand pounds more. I had a team of nine pre-pandemic, now I have just three.

When you talk to HR, they are trapped by stupid banding and grading criteria, which are inflexible and only encourage personnel to leave or set their productivity to the level they feel comfortable in delivering for the money they are paid. Thank heavens I am closing in on a retirement strategy.

Maybe could of interested me in my early pre marriage working life when I served my time as a HGV mechanic repairing stuff like this.
