This weekend! Shall I go here or Tankfest at Bovington? Do you think the family could handle both? Or my wallet?
Woohoo! Tankfest. If you see someone licking a Tetrarch that'll probably be me. And In less than 30 days time, the Wonder that is BELTRING!, which makes all other shows (The world included, so We're told) pale into insignificance. 3 days camping. Kids left behind. Be there and be square.
Yes, I went and have very pleasent day of it, despite the occasional rain. I saw this 1943 Morris in 43rd Wessex Div markings and had a chat with the owner. He was given it by a friend of a friend, who had stored it in a barn for decades - a classic story. The owner is a nice old boy who did his national service in the D and D's back in the fifties, so we had a bit of chat about that. I've got some nice shots of a James 2 stroke airborne bike and some odds and ends if anyone is interested. H
Anyone going this year? H you going? Might go as it cheaper than Tankfest. Yes, 99.99% likely for Sunday morning, Saturday if Sunday's forecast is shite. Nice little local show, very do-able in a few hours. H
Afternoon all, Went to MVT Kemble 2008 yesterday. Slightly dissappointing in that there was very little armour there. Concensus seemed to be that this was partly as Bovvie was on the same weekend and also the increase in fuel prices. However, some nice softskins and curios were on display, including a Italian field kitchen (date uncertain), the little Morris car, the airborne bikes, a Polsten cannon (never seen one before), and the WIP M5 (?) found in deepest France. Good stuff H, Somebody's taking on quite a task with that 'new to the market' halftrack aren't they .
Good stuff H, Somebody's taking on quite a task with that 'new to the market' halftrack aren't they . Only 38 careful owners and sod-all service history! You can just see the £50 notes vapourising before your eyes, can't you?
Just got back from Kemble 2009. A litle dissapointing: smaller than the last few years. Depressing to see vehicles leaving as I arrived mid-morning but enjoyed tea and bacon sarnies as a consolation - well, you have to, don't you? Some nice kit still left and some loonies in the arena showing how to thrash a Landy around an enclosed space without crashing into other Landys or the two Landy-laden Fodens. No quality books, a big shame.
A stretched carrier and a cute little Villiers: Not Villiers is it , a James??? Wheres Rich when you need him. Kev
Not Villiers is it , a James??? Wheres Rich when you need him. Kev I'm free ! You're both right in that it's a James ML with a Villiers engine. Rich
