Looks like they've left out a whole 16 page section. On the plus side, it'll take up less space on the shelf. I've got a copy of Meyer's Grenadiers where either the cover or the textblock is upside down (not my handiwork...)
One of Henry James' novels was published with two chapters transposed. This went unnoticed through several editions.
No credits to anything appear present. Not really that sort of book I suppose. Picture is all over the internet, but not seen a source yet. (And, obviously, the ghastly Pinterest confuses the trail with umpteen different captions.}
Well Gurkhas served in France 1914/15 and despite popular depictions their war diaries suggest that they preferred the grenade to the knife when it came to tranch raiding and they were back and for a time camped on Hereford Race Course 1939/40
It's a new year isn't it..... yes I really failed on that resolution. It lasted all of a day. Feel free to use me as a cautionary tale as to what happens when you have too many wants on Abebooks that come up at the same time and a paid off credit card (once paid off credit card)
One of many things to work on is the rabbit trails I go down.....that's what I get for reading the references in the backs of books. I always find more things to get, often very tangential.
An irresistible purchase found in our local Lions book shop. Just the sort of cracking read for a January night.
