    A cauldron of raptors.

It was a hint rather than a true question :)

In this case, being more specific, the collective noun would be a convocation (although congress is sometimes used).

Correct, interestingly they also used locally built engines..

An aircraft with a rather more famous (and more elegant) namesake. A bonus for its very apt nickname

Volcanoes come to mind, well the God thereof, preceded by the a member of the clergy perhaps? The latter namesake version was a very nice delta wing. And it does look a bit like a pig that could fly!

Was an entrant to the King's Cup in the early twenties.

You guys are too good! Indeed it is the Vickers Vulcan nicknamed "The Flying Pig" for its looks and its flying qualities. Eight were built in the '20s and were based on the Vimy bomber. I rather like it, being of the slightly rotund persuasion myself.

Next time I'll just give you a picture of a nosewheel or a couple of rivets - I'm sure you'll get it

Came across this one in a very fragile AA aircraft recognition book. Have to confess I'd not heard of the manufacturer before. So over to you guys! WW2280217-web.jpg

    No takers? Cryptic clue time.
Sounds like "an imaginary circle in a plane perpendicular to the planes of the celestial equator and horizon, in a blind one".
