At the battle of Midway, this was the last Japanese carrier to be sunk. It's last air strike comtributed to the destruction of the Yorktown.

    Whats my name?

My sister ship is the one of the most famous battleships of all time, she was sunk after me on what was going to be her final mission. Who am I?

I have a book written by one of the survivors of the mission!

It was certainly meant to be a suicide mission; Yamato wasn't given enough fuel for a return trip. But presumably the Captain and his Admirals made this decision; you couldn't expect all 2000+ crew not to have reservations and avoid to dying gloriously if they possibly could!

    OK, NEXT QUESTION:

Which British cruiser torpedoed herself, when the torpedo circled?

    Yes, Trinidad.

Her luck got even worse - having survived this and been patched up at Murmansk, she was sunk while returning to the UK.

Designed initially as a battlecruiser, like many early aircraft carriers, I survived the war. I had the heaviest gun armament ever mounted on a WW2 aircraft carrier.

USS Saratoga which had 8 8" guns. The Japanese Akagi & Kaga both originally had 10 8" guns but they'd been removed by WWII.

    Well done Gibbo.

This ship too was designed as a battlecruiser but was actually completed as such & served as a battlecruiser in WWI before later being converted to an aircraft carrier. She didn't survive WWII, being sunk by enemy surface ships.
