Jonathan Ball It's a way of life.

I agree that Tom Neils is amongst the best

It certainly is and I'm re-reading it at the moment. Incidentally I asked for and got his autograph a year or so ago and I'm looking to frame the signature with a copy of the Cecil Beaton photo of him as displayed in my current avatar. A very unassuming, quite modest yet great man.

I met him and heard a very interesting talk by him at one of SWA finearts events. I asked for his signature for his 'Onward to Malta' book that i'd purchased in Malta. He went on to tell me it was a bootleg book that he'd not received a penny for, but still signed it! He mentioned he's looking to re-publish it like he's done with 'Gun Button', so i'll have to buy it legitimately when it's out!

I bought two in recent weeks.
"Most Dangerous Enemy" By Steven Bungay.
"The Battle of Britain- Five Months That Changed History May - October 1940" James Holland.

An update for the ATB "B of B" edition which I have would probably be a good buy if they still do that.

James, read the Bungay book first then you might not want to bother with Hollands. ;) A tad unfair as I haven't read Hollands yet I suppose.

I've just bought Dilip Sarkar's ''The Few''.

An excellent book, have you got a new set of shelves yet?

Hoping to start Holland's book soon.

Another excellent book is The Battle of Britain: New Perspectives by John Ray.

A behind the scenes look at the "big wing" controversy and the ousting of Dowding. Well worth a read.

I did read Holland's book on The Dambusters and it was very very good. I have, however, still to read his book on the BofB. It's a weighty tome and I can't be arsed to read anything like that at the mo.
