    Hello.

I've found out so much about what Grandad did in WW1 but until now, haven't really given much thought to my Dad, who did his WW2 national service in India with the 25th Dragoons. The focus on the anniversary of partition in India made me go and look through a few old photos and other things my Dad saved from his time in the Army and though i can trace his steps from a map and a careful record he kept of his travels, I don't really know much more. Sadly, it's too late to ask him or my Mum, so I thought I'd ask here. The thing is, I don't know where to begin.

So, I'll say Hello here and hope that someone will point me in the right direction, maybe give me a clue about where to find out more and perhaps let me know the best place to share some scans of a few group pics and so on which might be of interest to others.

    Many thanks.
    Gill

Thank you, Clive. I'll post a message in that forum.

I have his original ?Soldier's Service book? with a good deal of information in it, plus he kept a map and comprehensive list of the places he went (with dates, bless him), so I didn't think there was much extra to find from the service records. His service was short (about 3 years) and I don't think he was involved in anything significant above and beyond what was really the adventure of his life. But I appreciate the tip and will take a look there too.

    Best wishes
    Gill
