Thought I'd try this one in War In the Air: Does anyone know who, or which unit, shot down Lancaster LE-F, 630 Sqn. RAF, during the Etampes raid on the night of 9/10 June 1944? The aircraft was attacked by a German night-fighter which, after a second pass, left the Lancaster engulfed in flames. The aircraft crashed at Omerville, 7km WSW of Magny-en-Vexin.
    Thanks for any help.
    Regards,
    David

There is a claim by Hptmn Hans Autenrieth of 6./NJG4 on the night of 9/10 - 6- 44 for a Lancaster 5 km E Dreux. Perhaps this relates to your Lancaster? It' s the only claim I am aware of for the date you give.

    Dave,
Many thanks for that most interesting piece of infomation. It must be the same action if it was the only one - unless my Lancaster came down due to engine failure or similar. What is your source?

David there were actually 7 claims made by the nachtjagd on the night of June 9/10, 1944.

3 kills by NJG 2 members, one of these at 00.40 hrs by Hauptmann Kamstieß near Neufchateau.
2 kills by I. and II./NJG 4 and 2 kills by Major Borchers of STab./NJG 5. All were recorded as Lancasters........

    Erich,
I have not been keeping up to date with this Forum and, therefore, I have missed your informative post until now. Very many thanks for your help with this one.
    Best wishes,
