I found this site which shows photographs of No. 2 Forward Observation Unit with its Canadian members. Most of the photographs taken on the 6th Airborne Division's Baltic Advance to Wismar and in Wismar.

The third picture of gunners sitting on German flag are Gunners D.E. Jilks and Bruce E.D. Kerr, Kerr would be killed a week later.

Wallace 'Wally' Mackenzie can be seen in the first photograph fourth from the left, he was in the photograph shaking hands with the Russians.

    Brithm,

I wonder if Theobob has the first group photo - it shows his Father, Granger Martin, 4th left 4th row. Good job identifying the RCA men with flag ... :)

    Hey guys,
    what a great find!
I do not have a complete name list for the group photo
I would take a stab at one of the question marks in the back row
I think that may be Cec Baird
he was with 2 fou and I don't see him listed
    thanks for your vigilance

I came upon the medals of Gunner Bruce E. D. Kerr and that of his parents (WW1) listed in a medal auction site pdf. It describes the circumstances surrounding Gunner Kerr's death.

This may already have been posted elsewhere? A good history of 2 FOU by Lt.-Col. H.J.B. Rice, RA (Part 1) and Bob Hamilton (Part 2) with many photos included is available for download at the following site.

Hello chaps. In the pic where the chap is shaking hands with the Russian, I managed to ID that location when I went to Wismar. It's outside what was know as Kritzow castle. If anyone's interested I'll post google earth co-ordinates when I'm home from holiday.

A couple more well known photos taken by Lieut. Charles H. Richer, CPFU, near the same building on May 7th 1945 with slight edits on the LAC captions.

Not that one. I've managed to downsize the images which I'm just about to post. The building you've pointed out is inside the village, the Russian check point is to the west of that ...

Ok I have it now using your coordinates with the degree symbol. The road leading into Kritzow has been cut off by highway A14 built post war.

    53°53'30.78 N 11°31'21.11 E
