    Hi folks,

Just wondering if anyone here has made contact with anyone who was stationed at RAF Langford Lodge, during the time it was being setup as an Air Navigation School, the school was short lived, activated October 1952, it was disbanded by January 1953.

The Station commander was a Sqdn Leader Thomas Towell, a native of N.I., it seems that he would have been well suited to the posting, knowing the local issues in the country etc.

I've been researching the USAAF side of things at Langford Lodge for over 20 years, it's post war use by the RAF, albeit short lived, I find very interesting.

    All help greatfully received.

    Many thanks

    Will

Attached, an extract from the no.4 ANS ORB and a photograph I took a few years ago of one of the many tree carvings on the airfield, presumably made during the time the ANS was in operation, note the date, 1952, others are dated 1953 with the initials RAF, followed by names carved.
