I have hopefully received evidence that will go towards having Capt. MacLennan finally accepted as war dead. Recieved this letter from Canada via a relative in the UK from the MOT, stating he had died on board the U-boat.

If this does not seem to be deemed enough evidence I am at a total loss

That as far as im concerned is conclusive evidence of his fate; if the case now fails I do not know what to say

Finally after over three years of trying to convince the CWGC to commemorate Captain MacLennan as official war dead, his name has now been accepted :poppy:. Read details received from the Commission below.

    Hello Billy,
I don't know what to say, I can't thank you enough, there aren't the words! Am truly delighted the commemoration has happened at last and it never would have without all your hard work, and I know the family will be delighted as well. I couldn't believe how emotional I was after reading your e-mail,realising after all these years that Captain Angus will justly be remembered amongst the war dead.

Many, many most sincere thanks and appreciation. Hope that you will continue to keep in touch, although this has now been completed. I would like to continue to hear about your work, I find it most interesting.
    Kind regards,

    Kathleen

At long last Capt. MacLennan's name is finally recorded on Tower Hill. Don't have photo at present, but received confirmation from CWGC today. A further five other new names have also been added in perpetuity
