Notifications

Hi,
Wondering if this is a problem on my side or ...?

Last few days getting notifications of new posts a day after they were posted on a thread. This evening got one from last Thursday, 24 July! I would almost swear I had got it before ...

Any ideas? Is it something I have done?

My personal opinion, and judging by the long term & intermittent nature of these problems: vBulletin's notification system seems rather hit and miss to me... In short, it's not entirely reliable.

Add to that the fact it uses the email system to send them out and that introduces a whole external layer of ISPs, spamcops, and assorted other evils/annoyances of email in general. Some systems bounce mail seemingly at random if it comes from 'the internet'.
One thing that might be worth a go is to find if your email has a 'safe senders' list in it's spam filters and add http://www.ww2talk.com to that list.


I've scribbled it on my 'to do' list, and will have a proper dig through the options to see if things can be tweaked, but suspect it's 'one of those things'.
I realise that's pretty unhelpful, but it's best to be honest rather than promise a fix that may not exist.

Adam, all seems well again as of this evening. Had checked senders contacts list and have nothing sitting elsewhere for my attention.

I will just have to visit Forum more often should it occur again. Don't concern yourself any further over it, I think it really sounds like my problem and not yours.

After months of being AWOL, my instant notifications have reported for duty again. Perhaps they were just on the X list...

Oh I don't believe it was anything to do with forum at all, all was set up correctly.

I am just soo glad they are back.
Would've been nice to know what has changed within my email, so that should it reoccur, I could fix it. Just one of those little 'personality' traits my computer has spontaneously developed ...

It basically doesn't work very well Bob, bit random.
Could be that your email provider's sending them to spam, or that you're on a provider that doesn't accept emails generated by the Internet at all, there seem to be a few that reject our notifications.
