Hi all, I got distracted by my reading The Battle of the Rhineland but unfortunately I don't have it handy. Why was Operation Shears canceled? I sort of thought that it was because of the German attack in the Ardennes, but it was evidently cancelled on 14 December (52 Div's anti-tank regiment recorded that it was canceled on that date), and the German attack didn't begin until 2 days later.

I believe for the same reason that the Ardennes Offensive was launched - the weather was forecast (correctly) to be so bad that the Allies would be unable to fly air cover
