Cee, you are hereby awarded an Eagle-eyed badge for an outstanding contribution to military history research! Wow, how on earth did you track that footage down to add so much more to this post? This does appear to potentially show the small GPR support unit for Varsity with the added bonus of maybe putting names to faces. Top marks that man!
I'm really not qualified to engage on insignia, uniform and glider markings but possibly could be more helpful on researching individuals involved and their background and family history.
Another step forward - on-wards and upwards with any further contributions.
    Regards
    Dave

Hi Cee, really good observation and I have actually already queried that same thing in my notes! Why would glider pilots be pax in a glider?

    Chris,

Hopefully I'm not seeing things again. They are perhaps as Dave suggests a GPR support group. If they did leave from RAF Earls Colne my bet is on the first serial. Where is the runway - looks all grass and dirt?

    Regards ...

Yes it's really hard to see where it was filmed, although I am putting myself in the camera operators shoes for some of them - some of the footage where they are boarding wearing helmets and not berets has Halifax tugs in the background - so Earles Colne or Woodbridge. I'm sensing it is Earles Colne but need to figure out why my senses are telling me that. I'm off down to Marks Hall in the next week or so to meet their archivists and will be sharing this so if I get anything back from them I'll share what I'm able to.
