Could someone provide me with reports, memoirs, foto's or maps about the operations around kalbeck, Horst and Rottum. The wooded area alongside the niers just east of Goch between goch and Uedem during veritable.

Operation HEATHER and Operation LEEK. Had their starting positions there.

    Involved in the operations are:

    Corps:
    XXX brit. corps

    Divisions:
    3d division
    11th armoured division
    53rd division

    Brigades:
    9th brigade
    8th brigade
    6th armoured infantry brig.
    4th armoured brig.
    160th infantry brig.
    158th infantry brig.
    71th brigade

    Regiments:
    2nd east yorkshire regt.
    1st suffolk regt.
    5th coldstream guards (maybe)
    1st kings own scot. borderes
    2nd ulster rifles
    2nd east yorkshire regt.
    1st suffolk regt.
    1st south lancashire regt.

    German forces:
    Army:
    1th Fs armee

    Korps:
    II Fs Korps.

    Division:
    8th Fs Jg Div.

    Regiment:
    Fs Jg Rgt 24
    Fs Jg Rgt 7
    Fs Jg Rgt 22

And there should have been a counter attack with SP's that shattered. Conducted Around the mansion's, sophienhof and babbe. Nowadays between the sandheiderweg and the L77
But couldn't find any info according their unit. I suspect they were from the 116th panzer division.

EDIT: The counter attack was conducted by the 116th Pz panzer lehr div. on the 22nd of feb. And remained in the area till the 25th.

    Greetings Diz.

Assuming these are Allied Op's, I can't find anything listed at the National Archives for them.

As you can read in the pages posted by stolpi, in a later stage a attack called Operation Daffodil does also apply on this same battle.

Diz. Operation Heather is described in detail in my book, The Noise of Battle, published by Helion in 2016. Tony Colvin

Diz. If you're still interested, the 53 Div histry and a few of the battalion historiesmcover Daffodil and Leek quite well.

Diz, could you update a bit. I found some traces regarding Operation LEEK.

But some operations are also mentioned in the book
In My Father's Footsteps: With the 53rd Welsh Division from Normandy to Hamburg

Thanks to Wapen who made this thread again visible.
