Please can someone direct me as to where I can find parachute course records/jump logs for my Grandfather - Thomas Morrison # 4459046 of 156 Batallion. I know from his Service Records that on Feb 1944 he received Airborne pay arrears back dated to 18th May 1943, so I guess this would have been around the time that he started his jump training and at that time he was in Egypt at Kabrit/Ramat David.

    Many thanks
    Ian

They use to have them at thr Airborne Forces Museum in Aldershot, so I presume they moved along to the new museum.

    Hi Ian

The jump course records for Ringway are held at IWM Duxford. I'm not entirely sure but they may also have the the records for Kabrit/Ramat David. They can be contacted through ParaData and a donation may be required. A few pages from a book containing lists of men who took their parachute course at Kabrit/Ramat David have been posted on the forum though its original source/location was never made clear.

    Regards ...

Your Grandfather was posted to HQ Coy on 28/4/43 as a "non jumper" so it looks as though he would have gone on his course just after that.

I have checked the Kabrit para course roll and can't find either his name or number on it

Sorry for the late reply but thank you all very much for all the help and information. So looks like he did not do the course as per "arnhem2280" and therefore was a non-jumper as per "horsapassenger", my Mum always thought that he was a "jumper". This is all very interesting and filling in the missing information for us, as with most who served during the war, He did not like to talk too much about his war time.

So what was the exact roll of HQ Coy within 156 Btn as I know he was with the Seaborne tail for Arnhem and I guess he was also involved in Operation Slapstick in Taranto as he was awarded the Italy Star. I really appreciate all your help and research that you have all given.

    Hi,

Send a request to ParaData by way of their contact page. Give full name and service number and the date he received his wings from his service files if you have that info. It may require a donation - not sure?

    Make an Enquiry | ParaData

    dibdabcr01,

What was his name? I think you would still have to make a separate enquiry for Ringway course number. They may also provide a short statement on how well he took to jumping.

So I see from that you already have the Ringway course information. It's always good to put his name on the Forum as it may turn up in searches by others.
