Great pictures. They convey such a feeling of serendipity, even though I don't believe you found those sites by accident. I haven't visited many historic sites in my life, but whenever I do I get a very empathic feel for it and the people who have occupied that space in their day. Every time. Probably because I am already prone to it conceptually, but it is still very powerful. These pictures seem to have been shot with that same type of reverance. Very effectively done.

Thank you for the photos. Paris is a wonderful city. What I remember most is the extortionate price of a glass of beer.

Hi Jim, Iam not that up on my French tanks, I beleive that they are Char S-35 (somua) medium tanks, as you can also see they are being used by the German army

My memories of Paris in 1944 did not reflect the photo.s that you showed. My recolection was a very drab city. I saw very few vehicles. Those that I did see, were powered by wood burning stoves mounted on back. They moved slow, but the did the job.. I never did figure out how they operated. On most corners there were urinals where a guy could go in full sight of everyone and do his business. Prostitutes were everwhere.. Thanks for the Army movies and lectures on VD. I never engaged in it. I was very unimpressed. I am sure that it is better now.

Hi Franek,I am sure that you are right back in 1944 it would look quite different to now, most of these photographs are propganda shots and would not reflect normal every day life in an occupied city,
    Its much nicer now :D
