Wildlife; through circumstance maybe a bit less wild than usual.

    Kind regards, always,

    Jim.

You have a new fan. Showed this video to Mrs Wobbler who sat enthralled throughout and then told me “I love Jim”.

The other night, our pooch had an upset tummy so we left the garden door ajar, just in case. As it happened, she needed the toilet and this little fella saw his opportunity.

He was safely released tonight, he was incredibly cute, even though he tried on my slippers.

As my garage is used as a workshop there's plenty of places for these little critters to hide and a family of them decided to squat in there over the winter. Caught seven in all and released them in the local park about a mile away.

Same style trap. Funny enough, Jerry (as we named him) ignored the trap with cheese in it and went, instead, for the one with dog biscuits.

After a bit of research on mouse bait l read that cheese is a bit of a myth. Peanut butter came out tops a it worked a treat, got them every time, they apparently find it irresistible.

Salt and sugar, sugar and salt.

Those things will attract nigh on any land based mammal.

Kind regards, and in peanut butter they are a wonderful combination, always,

    Jim.

Fully recommend that trap by the way as I'm sure you'll agree John. Before I bought a couple I did have a snap trap which I reluctantly tried to use but they licked the plate clean without setting it off, crafty things. I was glad really because it pushed me in to getting the humane ones as didn't fancy finding a dead mouse.

Here are a couple of screen grabs of a coyote in my backyard around 2:30am. We still have snow cover from the last big storm here in Connecticut. Tonight we are expecting Blizzard Calvin with 10-20" of snow and 55 mph winds. Wish us luck riding out the storm.

Bucket and ruler is a good way to catch mice. Balance ruler over bucket, put some tasty morsels on ruler, mouse walks plank, tips ruler and self into bucket. No water I hasten to add!

Used that to get some mice out of our shed in the 70s. Think I used hamster mix as the bait, nice and light. Mice all landed safely and could be taken to the nearby field. Slow though, you can only get one at a time.

We have about 20 frogs in our small pond, no spawn yet.
