An unusual visitor to our garden on Saturday. Not sure what the poor little chap or chapess’s chances are going to be out there in the wild though :blank::

I know parakeets (budgerigar) survive an Indiana winter, so this one has as good a chance as a sparrow or the like.

We have quite a lot of parakeet colonies here too now, certainly a squadron of them in our road and gardens.

London's Parakeets: Everything You Need To Know

My fear for the budgie, presumably an escapee, is predators, likely other birds. I hope the little critter makes it, but guess I’ll never know. Of course, it could have been flying free for a long time already.

I tried to coax it into my hand but although it stayed relatively close and looked at me for a while, obviously used to humans, it then took off and that was that…

These things come in across the patio and try to get in through the patio doors.

This was a wonderful road for conkers when I was a kid and, I was delighted to find today, still is. Ah, the heady days of the cheese cutter and bashed fingers - what larks.

I wonder if the young ‘uns are allowed to play conkers these days. Have to look up from their phones though…

Somebody is round our way, judging by the conker shells on the floor by the school.
    No pics I'm afraid.
The foxes have disappeared, sometimes dropping in at the dead of night in case there is the odd morsel about.
They are out on the edge of the estate where the developer's planted apple, Hazelnut and oak trees.
Judging by the odd droppings they are eating blackberry and Elderberries too.
The Hedgehogs are cause for concern none have been seen for some time. Cold nights this September.
They should be fattening up for winter and refilling the bedding in their hibernation homes.
The ground is hard with no worms in sight, a bad sign. Perhaps the hogs are feeding on the worms and insects eating the remnants of the wild fruits.
Really need to get a new trail cam but funding is falling short at the moment.
The summer's gone and all the leaves are falling.

The old Husky is looking sad. She is 15 and having trouble settling down. Gave her some medication.
Looks like she has gone to sleep, so I'm off to bed. It's gone 2 o'clock.
