Ha! I was asking for Muttley to be returned to his position above your Tricky Dicky name, where I first saw him.
He just made me smile each time I looked at him. No fun now. Actually for a serious site for research I'm quite surprised, I've just seen a kitten patting a duck's head! I can't believe I just wrote that!

    Hello CL1
I must apologise, I don't think I was getting things right earlier. I thanked you for your help but not in the right place.
So, thank you. Please could I print off the lovely picture of the grave? I haven 't seen it before. Will it work?

    Hello Margaret,
Pleased to meet you. The administrators are so knowledgeable and efficient on here. I can't believe they found you.
I have been researching my Father for my benefit and for my family. I have prepared a file for each of them. My Father died in June 1944 and I was born in August 1944. So I didn't know him. I was told a bit about him as a little girl. It made me sad and so I kept him in my heart. My Mother remarried so the subject of Albert was a bit sensitive. What I was told and believed has been turned on its head. They said that Albert didn't talk, he didn't have any friends and in France he probably didn't dig a deep enough trench. Of course, I imagined him in a trench all on his own and frightened.
All the wonderful things I've found out about him paint a very different picture. The letters my Mother received from his officers including the one from Bertram Horwood have helped me so much - I can't put it into words. Albert was a professional footballer. I knew he was good but I have found my Mother's scrapbook and several newspaper cuttings, which prove he was better than good! At the moment I feel as if I have a warm
blanket around me.:) I wonder if it's possible to write a letter to you and to send a copy of Bertram's letter? I don't really know how to go about it. What do you think?
    Best wishes
    Linda

Hello Linda, this is all new to me as well on this site so not sure if I am even replying in the right place. I am very happy for you to email me privately on margjwilliams(at)outlook(dot)com and then we can contact each other privately. I would love to see the letter and exchange a few more details and imagine how they got on. I know Bert was a keen footballer and sportsman so they would have had that in common. Look forward to hearing from you. Best wishes, Margaret

Marje - can I suggest you 'edit' your post above and change the @ sign in your email address for the word AT - this is a public forum and bots search them for emails address's so they can use them at a later date

Glad to see all is working out

TD - by the way most of us are just members not administrators

Really pleased to see you on the forum Margaret.

Sorry I did not reply to your ancestry message, as can't get to them at moment & also logged off to look at events in Washington. The messaging service here works the same as on ancestry all private.
