For those of you who may be interested. Came across this site whilst looking for info on the 1st Polish Armoured Division. It has a good cross section of topics (in English) on most things relating to the Poles during WW2. Poland in Exile Regards - Robert PS Adam has kindly added it to the list of websites worth visiting
Struck me as a sensible site Robert, and I can't blame them for the 'little bit of politics' relating to Yalta - I think anyone with a Polish focus on WW2 has a right to be irritated at their treatment postwar. Not that I believe there were too many realistic alternatives either. So yes, into our Links with it, they were/are somewhat thin on good Polish sites. Cheers, Adam.
Another couple of interesting sites from a Polish perspective: GERMAN INVASION OF POLAND DURING WW2 THE SOVIET INVASION OF POLAND DURING WORLD WAR TWO Some real depth and a fascinating links page.
I think, that this topic is fine to write about everything about polish forces, campaigns, battles etc. I try to write something interesting from time to time. So, now I would like to say something about "polish Thermopylae" - Battle of Wizna. I think that is interesting because, like the ancient Spartans, polish soldiers fight with army which was huge. Polish forces had 720 soldiers, German 42200 (It's not mistake!). 40 german soldiers for 1 polish. . Polish soldiers defended for four days 7-10.09.1939. German won, but it was hard to them. Battle of Wizna - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Commanders: Polish Captain Wladyslaw Raginis German Genereal Heinz Guderian Something special, the song which is very popular in Poland. This is swedish heavy-metal group Sabaton which sing the song about polish defenders of Wizna: YouTube - Sabaton - 40:1 Official video It's interesting that they will sing this song on the 70th anniversary of the battle in Wizna. Regards Luke
Kampania Polska 1939 Interesting link, about polish campaign against Germany and Soviet Union Only in Polish, but there is some interesting photos and movies. In "Galeria" are photos, in "Multimedia" are videos and radio from these days. In down of the site you have a days, click and you can choose accident from every day of semptember 1939.
As Poland watches and helps its neighbour, the Ukraine, a reminder of the Battle of Wizna, when a small Polish force held off a far greater German force for three days. I noted the use of terrain, with some newly built bunkers and more. I'd never heard of this battle till this popped up on Twitter from a Polish user, it is a little strange IMHO: Polish Truth - The Battle of Wizna There is a detailed, extensive wiki: Battle of Wizna - Wikipedia
