    Nice, there were Polish sqn's near me;

    "RAF Chailey was surveyed and commenced in 1942 as one of the sites required by Fighter Command to encompass the expansion envisaged following the success of the Battle of Britain. The airfield was not ready for laying out until Summer 1943, by which time plans had changed and, while some of the projects were dropped, Chailey was one of a number which passed to the newly formed 2nd Tactical Air Force, to become an operating station for Units providing support for the Invasion of the enemy coast, now being planned for Summer 1944. What is more, Chailey was to become the most important of all the D-Day ALGs, playing host not only to 131 Polish Wing, consisting of three Polish Fighter Squadrons, but also to No 18 Fighter Sector, reporting direct to the Operations Room at Tangmere and controlling three Wings of three Squadrons each, a total of nine Squadrons, of which five were Polish, namely 302, 306, 308, 315 and 317. The others were 129 (Mysore), 222 (Natal), 349 (Belgium), 485 (New Zealand). The Commanding Officer, Group Captain Gabszewicz, was the highest ranking and the most highly decorated Pole in the RAF."
