Thought that this might be of interest...

This is a standard Polish Identity disc (model 1931... the Nieśmiertelnik wz. 1931) to a Kaporal Jan Lesniowski.

This tag had been, unresearched (I didn't have the foggiest idea where to start on Polish soldiers!), in my collection for quite some time and an image of it had been on my website for a number of years, but, a couple of years ago, a Polish researcher got in touch with me out of the blue with some very interesting information...

The tag was to a very early casualty of WW2... a gunner in the 55 Bomber Squadron, Polish Air Force, Jan was shot down and killed on 3rd September 1939. He is buried near to where he fell (Bugaj)...
