Polish Patches

    Help could any identify these patches from a polish uniform. They are from a relation who is polish and i'm trying to track any information I can about him without any success. Any help would be great fully received, thanks.

    The bottom left, shield with cross, looks like British 8th army. the red and white one with green tree is the Carpathian rifles.

    And of course the red one with Poland on it is a shoulder title! :)

    Edelweiss Badge with number 2 should be sign of 2nd Carpathian Rifle Battalion, 1st Carpathian Rifle Brigade, 3rd Carpathian Rifle Division.

    Poland. Shoulder patch on both shoulders.
    Metal Eagle. Beret badge for Polish troops.
    Tree on red and white background. 3 Carpathian Division worn on left arm only.
    8 Army cross worn on right arm only. Not often worn.
    Edelweiss. 2 Rifle Brigade collar patch worn on both collars.
    Metal cross with tree and ,3. 3 Carpathian Division and worn on beret together with the eagle.

    Boogie.

    If your relation was in the Carpathian Division, he was very probably at Monte Cassino. There is a fabulous memorial to the Carpathian Division on Point 593 behind the Monastery and above the Polish Cemetery.

    Boogie,

    I don't know if this is relevant to your research, or if you already know this but:

    There was a large force of Polish troops fighting with the 8th Army in Italy. Most of these had been taken prisoner by the Russians and then released to the British in the Middle East. Some had arrived via other means, having escaped from Poland before they could be captured. I am no expert on this but I think it is well documented.

    I have just found out that one of my cousins has a wristband with Monte Cassino on it. So we are sure he must have been there.Thanks all information welcome.
