On 26 July 1945, the results of a General Election were announced. Winston Churchill, victorious wartime leader, was not re-elected. Why did Churchill lose an election that came just months after VE Day? And what did the result mean for Britain's future, and the way we live today? This is probably already known to 90 % of all members. But it was news to me, when I read it in a newsletter by the Imperial War Museum in London today. Do people in Britain live different today? Stefan.
Useful source of information on the statistics of elections is the UK Parliament website. For example: https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-7529/
Thanks Owen. However, I am still puzzled as to the statement: Do people in UK live different today. my experience is limited to the years 1966 until 1970.Compared to people in Germany, the Brits I met were much more open.
I think we live very differently today although there are still a number of dinosaurs who would like to harp back to the olden times. Although many moan about things but dont have a plan to change them. The Brits are very open in this day and age
